Scrubbers
Desom Ventsorb Technology
As hydrometallurgical processing technologies evolve, autoclaves have become a cornerstone in the treatment of complex ores. Whether it’s Pressure Oxidation (POX), High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL), or Pressure Oxidative Leaching (POL), each method presents unique off-gas challenges. That’s where VentSorb comes in.
VentSorb is a purpose-built gas scrubber designed specifically for autoclave off-gas management. It combines temperature quenching with high-efficiency gas scrubbing to control both continuous and intermittent emissions from high-temperature leaching operations.
This system ensures compliance with stringent environmental regulations while minimizing operational downtime—making it an ideal choice for modern metallurgical facilities.
Why Choose VentSorb?
- Designed for high-pressure, high-temperature environments
- Handles complex off-gas profiles from POX, HPAL, and POL
- Improves environmental performance and
regulatory compliance - Reliable performance during both steady-state and upset conditions

Gas Scrubbers
Gas scrubbers are widely used to remove dust, mists, vapors, and odors from industrial exhaust streams, as well as to neutralize harmful gases. While their primary function is pollutant removal, scrubbers also play a key role in process recovery—capturing valuable liquids or solids that would otherwise be lost. This dual-purpose capability makes them essential in industries where environmental control and resource efficiency go hand in hand. From chemical processing to metal refining, gas scrubbers offer a reliable and cost-effective solution for maintaining clean air and maximizing material utilization.
Venturi Scrubbers
The Venturi scrubber is a high-efficiency variant that uses an external fan to create a strong pressure differential, accelerating the gas stream through a narrow throat. At this point, scrubbing liquid is injected and atomized into fine droplets, enabling intense gas-liquid interaction. This design is especially effective for capturing submicron particulate matter and is typically used in applications where jet scrubbers are insufficient.
Jet Gas Scrubbers
Jet gas scrubbers operate on the principle of a liquid-gas ejector. A centrifugal pump circulates the scrubbing liquid through a high-speed nozzle, creating jets that entrain and clean the contaminated gas. As the liquid breaks into fine droplets, the increased surface area enhances mass transfer and pollutant removal. The gas-liquid mixture flows into an impact separator, where the gas rises through a droplet separator to remove residual liquid. Jet scrubbers are self-priming and require no external fan. Depending on the contaminants, various scrubbing liquids—such as water, oil, alkaline solutions, or hypochlorite mixtures—can be used. With removal efficiencies exceeding 98%, they are highly effective for effluent decontamination.
Plate Scrubbers
Our plate scrubbers are engineered to efficiently remove acid mist and fine particulates from tankhouse exhaust streams. Designed for high-performance gas-liquid contact, these systems ensure cleaner air and compliance with environmental regulations. With a compact footprint and robust corrosion-resistant construction, our scrubbers deliver reliable performance in the harsh chemical environments typical of electrowinning operations. Whether you’re upgrading existing systems or installing new ones, our plate scrubbers offer proven efficiency, low maintenance, and long service life.
