EnerCon© System
The Desom EnerCon© System is a proprietary insulating surface that is mounted below the cathode hanger bars in EW Cells. The EnerCon© Surface has been designed to reduce energy losses from EW operations and when combined with Desom’s LowVol© EW Cell Ventilation System dramatically reduces the loss of heat, moisture and acid aerosols from EW Cells to the working environment.
The Desom EnerCon© Surface is electrically and chemically inert and provides no direct connection between the electrodes, thereby eliminating any possibility of reduced current efficiency in the EW Process. During the entire production cycle, the EnerCon© System separates the process environment within the EW Cells from the working environment around the Cells.
The unique features of this system are:
- Can be mounted in any EW cell configuration
(size, electrode spacing, electrode design, etc.) - Zero interference with cathode harvesting
- Total control of moisture and acid aerosol emission, even during harvesting
- Additional protection for the Anode Hanger Bars and Contact area
- Self-alignment of stripped cathode during insertion into cell
- Protection against accidental “shorting” between electrodes during cathode insertion
- Single Piece Construction
- Optimized Fluid Flow Design
- Inspection and cleaning accomplished as part of anode removal and cell cleaning operations
- No Process Interference
- Stackable
The EnerCon© System allows:
- Unlimited man access to the top of the cells
- Full visibility of the critical hanger bar, contact areas of the cells
- Complete access to the cells for cell cleaning
- No restrictions on production rate
- No requirement to add additional crane height
- Simple design not requiring elaborate control
and monitoring systems - Allows full automation of cathode harvesting
- No manual labour involved in retrieving or positioning surfaces
